  2. A very interesting situation that Pi faces so far is whether or not he should get in the boat with the animals or just stay in the water with the sharks. There are many advantages and disadvantages to both decisions. If he gets into the boat with the animals, the group of animals in the boats include a tiger and a hyena. Therefore, He is in danger of being ripped apart by the predator. However, if he stays in the water, there are sharks in the water and the position that pi is in makes him look like a seal to the sharks. He could also get shredded by all the sharks in the water.

If I was Pi, I would of stayed in the water because he has been in the water for some time and the sharks still haven't attacked him yet so if something is working, why change it. If he gets onto the boat, the carnivores might attack him. One can befriend predators but one can never truely tame one. There is always a chance of getting attacked by the predators.

    1. I think that Pi made a good decision by staying in the boat and building a raft, instead of staying in the water. If he had stayed in the water, he might have gotten hypothermia or he could have been attacked by a shark. I don't think that Richard Parker would have attacked Pi, because he depended on Pi for food.

  3. I think that it is interesting that you would stay in the water becuase ultimately, Pi chose the same thing but he was smarter about it. He constructs a raft which is a compromise between getting on the boat or staying the the ocean with the sharks. Soon, the only animal left aboard is the most predatory animal: the tiger. Later in the story, Pi actually grows fond of the sharks and all the sea life becuase it helps in survive. After he reaches Canada, he also prays for the soaps of the animals that he killed which shows true remorse.

  4. I also think it is interesting that you'd stay in the water and your reasons are valid. However as a human being (a land animal), water is uncomfortable to be in for long periods and that's just human nature. If you fast-forward in the book to where Pi creates a raft, it shows that Pi was uncomfortable in the freezing water and had to make something so that he could stay dry.

Relationships

In the "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel Pi opens the early chapters by introducing himself. Pi mentions a lot of things from his religion to his interest in Zoology. Pi then talks about how he has been surrounded by animals his whole life and the relationships between him and all the animals. The relationships are to the point where he could control any animal he stepped infront of, except one. Not a Hyena. Not a orangutan, and not mighty king of the jungle. It was a tiger, named Richard Parker. Pi had spoken of the Tiger as an animal that could not be controlled, but I feel the Tiger is an animal that is misunderstood. Fast-forward to Pi being stranded in the ocean with his biggest fear (Tiger), and I feel it is a real possibility that Pi learns to love and care for the Tiger with the name of Richard Parker. I feel this way because Pi speaks of tigers in a mysterious way, and seems to not know much about them. This leads me to infer that by the end of the novel, Pi will develop...
